Allie and I know, as women, that the bride and her bridesmaids start thinking about getting ready for the wedding day MONTHS in advance. We think about facials, hair, makeup, and sometimes even improving our physique. But what about the men involved? We all know that they are just as important, but their appearance never gets the same consideration! So gentlemen, as the big day draws near it is very important that you take some much needed time to focus on yourself.
Luckily for you guys, getting ready does not require the same amount of time as it does for the bride. But, there still are quite a few things you can get done in advance to ensure that you're looking dapper when it comes time to walk down the aisle. So, here are some simple steps that you can take leading up to the wedding that will keep you looking best for your bride!
Make Healthy Choices
Months leading up to the wedding, find a workout routine that works for you, make healthier food choices so that you are feeling your best self! Over-indulging in carbs, alcohol and sugary treats will leave you feeling sleepy and make your brain foggy. Make choices that leave the sugar rush behind by sticking to whole foods and lean proteins. Also, drink lots of water! Your skin will look fresh and you’ll have a renewed energy level so you can show off those moves and crush it on the dance floor. Making some healthier choices leading up to the wedding will have you and enjoying every last moment of the big day with your new bride, friends and family.
Get A Haircut
You want to look fresh for the big day and that means getting a haircut. However, now isn’t the time to go bold and get that mohawk you have been thinking about. Stick to what you know works for you so you don’t end up regretting your look in all those wedding photos, because they will be around for years to come. Also, make the appointment with your regular barber so you don’t leave the salon with an unrecognizable haircut that is uncharacteristic of your everyday look.
Take Care Of Your Skin
This is so important and often times something men don't even think about. There are many steps you can take to have your skin looking fresh and clear, but the biggest factor in great skin is determining what products work for your skin. There’s more to great skin than just washing your face, like it’s amazing what a great moisturizer can do for you. Take the time to learn more about your skin type and determine what products will help cleanse and moisturize your skin including the elimination of oil. But, don’t try a bunch of new products at the same time, and DO NOT try an unfamiliar product days before the wedding. Instead, get familiar with different products months before so you don’t have to worry about reactions to any products and random breakouts just days before your wedding.
Take The Time To Trim
Everyone will be looking at you too on your big day, so the hair on your face is so important. Even if you don’t want a close shave, that’s fine! But take time to trim your facial hair so everything is even and looking the best possible. If you decide on a close shave for your day, be sure to use a fresh, high-quality razor to avoid painful razor burns or cuts from a dull blade. Also, don't forget to trim the hair in other areas too...nose, ears, eyebrows. While this might not be necessary for everyone, for some it will make a difference.
Perfect That Oral Hygiene
This is something you should already be doing, but maybe you go an extra step and get your teeth whitened. Or even schedule a deep cleaning before the wedding. Remember, you’ll be smiling for so many pictures and knowing your teeth are clean and bright will just give you added confidence. And let’s not forget how great you’ll feel about your pearly whites just before the big kiss!
Get Your Signature Scent
Determine what scent you prefer for the big day in advance. You may want a different cologne than what you wear every day for this special occasion, or you might just stick to your usual scent. Either way, make sure you have that for your big day. You will be giving out hugs and around so many friends and family this day, so it is important that you smell nice! But remember, just don't overdo it either.
